IMF

ISLAMABAD: The International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank have expressed satisfaction over Pakistan’s economic reforms and policy initiatives and assured continued full support for Pakistan’s development.

In the meeting of the IMF delegation with Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, discussions were held on the ongoing economic reforms in the country, in which the delegation praised the economic stability while justifying Pakistan’s direction. The delegation said that Pakistan has taken important decisions at the policy level that are building the economy on a strong foundation.

Later, Anna Bejar D, MD Operations, World Bank, also called on the Prime Minister along with her delegation. The Prime Minister said the World Bank has always played a key role in Pakistan’s development journey, and the investment of more than $20 billion under the Country Partnership Programme is an important milestone.

Shahbaz Sharif made a special mention of the World Bank’s assistance in the 2022 floods, saying that international cooperation is indispensable in the recovery and reconstruction after natural disasters, and Pakistan has given confidence to the world with practical measures.

Terming Pakistan’s recent economic performance as “exemplary,” the World Bank delegation said that the country has made the impossible possible and the World Bank will fully support it in its development journey.

These meetings show that Pakistan is gaining the trust of international financial institutions and the economy has entered a new era of prosperity.
