There are indications of a possible reduction in the prices of petroleum products from the federal government, which has created hope of getting limited but significant relief to the people affected by inflation.
According to sources, there is a continuous decline in crude oil prices in the global market, the effects of which are likely to be transmitted to the prices of petrol and high-speed diesel in Pakistan. Price changes are being considered for the next 15-day period, starting from December 16, 2025.
According to reports, a slight decrease of Rs 0.36 per litre is expected in the price of petrol, while a significant decrease of up to Rs 11.85 per litre is being shown in the price of high-speed diesel.
Economists say that if the price of diesel is reduced significantly, it can directly benefit the transport, agriculture and industrial sectors, as diesel plays an important role in freight and production costs.
According to economist Dr Waqar Hussain, “The reduction in the price of high-speed diesel may help reduce inflationary pressures, but the real benefit to the public will come only when the government passes on the full impact of the global market shortage to consumers.”
The final prices will be announced by the federal government tomorrow, on which both the public and the business community are focused.
