PM Shehbaz Sharif and Recep Tayyip Erdogan meet, agree to further strengthen Pak-Turkey relations

In the meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the two countries reiterated the importance of historical and deep brotherly relations and agreed to further advance mutual cooperation.

In the meeting, the Prime Minister expressed his desire to further strengthen partnership in the political, energy, economic, defense and investment sectors. The two leaders expressed satisfaction over the 16th meeting of the Pak-Turkey Joint Ministerial Commission (JMC).

The Prime Minister expressed special gratitude to Turkey for its diplomatic support and facilitation in the negotiations on Pakistan’s position on Afghanistan, saying that
“Peace is possible only when Pakistan’s security concerns are genuinely addressed.”

The two countries also stressed the need for immediate implementation of the MoUs and agreements reached.
PM Shahbaz Sharif said that Pakistan wants to benefit from Turkey’s experiences in the privatization of power distribution companies, for which ministerial-level exchanges will be held soon.

The Prime Minister also appreciated President Erdogan’s efforts for peace in Gaza.
