Political turmoil in Azad Kashmir: PPP to announce new prime ministerial candidate today

The political landscape in Azad Kashmir is changing rapidly. Sources say that Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will announce the prime ministerial candidate today. In this race, the names of Speaker Assembly Chaudhry Latif Akbar and Chaudhry Yasin are under consideration, one of whom will be finalized, while Latif Akbar is considered a strong candidate.

On the issue of government formation, the PML-N has made it clear that it will not become a part of the government itself, but will support the PPP in the no-confidence motion. It has been decided to move a no-confidence motion if Prime Minister Anwarul Haq does not resign.

After the resignation of one of the 53 members of the Azad Kashmir Assembly, the current strength of the members is 52 and the support of 27 members is required to form the government. The PPP has 17 seats and 9 members of the PML-N are also supporting them.

After the conditional support of 10 members of the Barrister Sultan Group and the Forward Bloc, the total strength of the PPP has become 36, which is a clear advantage in the government’s numbers game.

On the other hand, Prime Minister Anwarul Haq’s group includes 10 members, while PTI Azad Kashmir has 4, Muslim Conference and JKPP have one seat each. According to political experts, if the no-confidence motion fails, it will not be able to be presented again for six months.
