PTA Crackdown on Tampered and Cloned Mobile Phones, Several Arrests

Islamabad: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), in collaboration with the National Cyber ​​Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), has launched a nationwide crackdown on tampered and cloned mobile phones.

According to a PTA spokesperson, elements who were illegally changing the IMEI numbers of mobile devices were arrested during operations in Karachi, Mansehra, and other cities.

During the operation, software, laptops, and computers that were being used for tampering. The PTA says that these illegal devices can pose a threat to national security and public safety, as they can be used in cybercrime, financial fraud, and other crimes.

PTA has appealed to the public to buy only verified and registered mobile phones and immediately report any suspicious activity to the relevant agencies so that digital security can be made effective.
