Lahore: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has sought help from Jamaat-e-Islami for the release of its patron-in-chief, Imran Khan. According to sources, senior PTI leaders contacted Jamaat-e-Islami so that it could play the role of mediator for talks with the government.
In this regard, Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman has said in his statement that PTI leaders contacted him for mediation, but we made it clear that the founder should first obtain a full mandate from PTI.
Hafiz Naeem said that Jamaat-e-Islami is ready for mediation, but before that, PTI will have to clarify its position and decision so that serious negotiations are possible. He said that we have called a meeting of the party and decided that if Imran Khan himself gives a mandate for mediation and sticks to his position, then only then will the government be contacted.
Jamaat-e-Islami is of the opinion that serious, clear, and authoritative contacts are necessary to move the political process forward and end the deadlock.
