After the recent monsoon rains in Punjab, the flood restoration process is in full swing in various districts. According to the PDMA spokesperson, a survey of the affected areas in 27 districts of the province is being completed so that restoration measures can be finalized soon.
According to the Meteorological Department, 47 mm of rain was recorded in Noorpurthal, 42 mm in Faisalabad, 35 mm in Okara, while 38 mm of rain was recorded in Lahore during the last 24 hours. More rains are expected in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin and Gujrat, among other districts, in the next 24 hours.
The PDMA has warned that due to continuous rains, the water flow in the Indus, Jhelum and Chenab rivers may increase. Citizens have been instructed to exercise caution in low-lying areas and cooperate with the relevant agencies.
DG PDMA Irfan Ali Kathia said that the Pakistan Army, Urban Unit and District Administration are working together for a transparent survey of flood victims. So far, data of 127,000 affected people and more than 88,000 farmers have been collected so that timely assistance can be provided to them.
