The Punjab government has taken an important decision for the welfare of labouring families and approved a significant increase in marriage and death grants. The aim of this move is to provide better financial support to the labouring class at important occasions in life.
According to the government decision, the marriage grant, which was earlier fixed at Rs 4 lakh, has been increased to Rs 6 lakh. This increase is expected to provide significant relief to labouring parents in the expenses of their children’s marriage.
Similarly, the death grant has also been increased, which has now been increased from Rs. 8 lakh to Rs. 1 million. Under the new rate, immediate financial assistance can be provided to the heirs of deceased laborers in a more effective manner.
According to the sources, these measures have been taken keeping in mind the real needs of the labourers so that the labour community feels less economic pressure and can get immediate support in difficult times.
The labor department has said that these grants will be applicable to all eligible laborers registered in the provincial labor welfare system. Along with this, special instructions have also been issued to the relevant institutions for the timely provision of grants, so that laboring families do not face any delay.
