According to police sources, the investigation into SP Adeel Akbar’s case has been completed, and according to preliminary findings, he died of a gunshot wound to the face.
The three-member committee headed by DIG Haroon Joya included DIG Atiq Tahir and DIG Operations Jawad Tariq.
According to sources, the inquiry committee found no clear evidence of SP Adeel Akbar’s suicide. The committee has also received the post-mortem report, which stated that the cause of death was gunshot wounds.
The inquiry committee recorded the statements of the SP’s wireless operator, driver and other staff regarding the incident. In addition, a statement from a psychologist was also included, according to which SP Adeel Akbar had consulted his doctor twice.
Sources say that the committee will submit its full report today to IG Islamabad Ali Nasir Rizvi, who will send the report along with its recommendations to Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.
