Sugar price relief likely, imported sugar to reach Pakistan in September

Islamabad: A big decision has been taken by the government for the people worried about the rising prices of sugar. The Ministry of National Food Security has announced that the import of sugar has entered the final stage and the first shipment will reach the country in early September.

The spokesperson said that the purpose of the import is not only to ensure the availability of sugar in the market but also to control the prices. During the procurement, the government obtained sugar at a better price through effective negotiations with the international market.

According to sources, the arrival of imported sugar will bring stability to the local market and consumers are expected to get some relief. The government has also assured to make this process completely transparent.
