Islamabad: An agreement has been reached between the federal government and the Pakistan Sugar Mills Association to increase the ex-mill prices of sugar in a phased manner. According to this agreement, the price of sugar will be increased by a total of Rs 6 per kg in the next three months.
Under the agreement, the ex-mill price of sugar has been fixed at Rs 165 per kg for one month from July 15, 2025, which will be Rs 167 on August 15, Rs 169 on September 15, and Rs 171 per kg from October 15, 2025.
The agreement was reached in Islamabad, where Federal Minister for National Food Security Rana Tanveer Hussain signed on behalf of the government, while Sugar Mills Association Secretary General Imran Ahmed represented the organization.
According to officials, the decision has been taken keeping in mind the current market situation, cost, and stability to ensure the availability of sugar.
