Minister of State for Interior Senator Talal Chaudhry has said that the government wants to provide a completely safe environment for investment in the country. While talking to the media in Faisalabad, he termed terrorism as a “huge problem” of Pakistan and stressed the need for all provincial governments and political parties to unite and adopt a common strategy to combat it.
Comparing the law and order situation in the country, Senator Talal Chaudhry said that terrorism was almost eradicated from the country in 2018, but the current situation is due to the shortcomings of political governments. He asked whether political parties should not play their role in preventing terrorism? The Minister of State explained that the National Action Plan (NAP) was made during the tenure of Nawaz Sharif, while it was only revised during the tenure of PTI.
He questioned the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provincial government about the steps it had taken to end terrorism, and also expressed concern over the outcome of talks with Afghanistan. Talal Chaudhry pledged full support to the security forces and said that it was the responsibility of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to stand behind the security forces. Maintaining his strong stance, he said that talks will be held with bullets only with those who are firing bullets, and no talks are possible with those who are martyring our soldiers and children. He gave the example of Punjab and Karak, where 17 terrorists were killed and more than six were arrested in a recent operation.
