The moon of Rajab 1447 AH has been sighted; 1st Rajab from December 22

The Ministry of Religious Affairs has issued a notification regarding the moon sighting of Rajab 1447 AH. The notification stated that the meeting of the central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee was held under the chairmanship of Maulana Syed Muhammad Abdul Khabir Azad, while the meetings of the zonal and district crescent committees were successfully completed at their respective places.

According to the ministry, the moon of the month of Rajab has been sighted, and the new month will begin on Monday, December 22, 2025, the 1st of Rajab. The notification has directed the public to keep this announcement in mind for their worship and fasting schedule.

The month of Rajab holds importance in Islam as several recommended acts of worship and the virtues of remembrance and supplication are mentioned in this month. According to experts and scholars, after the announcement of the initial date of the month of Rajab, worship will begin and preparations for holding Milad and prayer gatherings in mosques will be completed.

Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad said, “The month of Rajab is a month of closeness to Allah and piety. The public should focus on voluntary acts of worship, recitation of the Quran and other recommended deeds during this month.”

On this occasion, religious affairs officials appealed to the public to understand the virtues of the month of Rajab and keep in mind the importance of sighting the crescent according to religious teachings at the domestic and social levels.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Religious Affairs directed the Hilal Committees at the zonal and district levels to adopt a transparent and reliable procedure regarding the sighting of the moon in the future so that there is no dispute or confusion among the public.
