Islamabad: Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that any unilateral decision by India on the Indus Waters Treaty is not only unacceptable but also has no legal status.

In a statement issued on X (formerly Twitter), Bilawal Bhutto said that the International Court of Arbitration has also made it clear that there is no scope for unilateral action on the Indus Waters Treaty. According to him, the recent decision of the court has opened the door to India’s claims and validated Pakistan’s position.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said in his statement:

“Attack on the Indus is unacceptable; the decision of the International Court of Arbitration has confirmed the fact that the Indus Waters Treaty is based on international principles, and there is no power to make unilateral decisions in any part of it.”

He said that Pakistan will continue to raise its voice at every international forum to protect its water rights, and any aggressive or unconstitutional action will continue to be challenged.
