Islamabad: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has released a grim report on the impact of the current monsoon season, revealing that 645 people have died across the country since June 26. An additional 151 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours alone, with the majority occurring in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Hit Hardest
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has been the most severely affected province, with a total death toll of 314 and 156 people injured. Among the 151 recent deaths reported nationwide, 144 were in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including 124 men, 16 women, and 11 children.
The latest figures also show that 159 houses have been damaged in the province, with 62 completely destroyed. The Buner district has been particularly devastated, reporting 209 deaths. Other severely affected areas include Swat, Shangla, Torghar, Bajaur, Battagram, and Mansehra.

Relief operations are being ramped up, but officials warn that the situation could worsen as more rain is forecast. The public is urged to take all necessary precautions and stay away from low-lying areas to ensure their safety.
