PM Shehbaz Sharif’s blunt stance: Privatization of national institutions is indispensable for the country’s development

Islamabad : Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed to complete the ongoing government strategy on privatization of state institutions on a priority basis, saying that privatization is a fundamental pillar in the path of development.

According to the briefing given in the meeting, the national airline and various distribution companies (DISCOs) are at the top of the institutions included in the privatization list of 2024, whose privatization is being carried out with institutional and administrative reforms.

PM Shehbaz Sharif said:

“Every decision will be made in accordance with the law and with complete transparency, and no illegal occupation of valuable land of any national institution will be allowed.”

He said that the government will expedite this process by giving legal autonomy to the Privatization Commission, so that investment and efficiency in the country’s economy are promoted.

The Prime Minister directed that the meetings would be regularly monitored and the government would ensure direct implementation at every stage of privatization.
