Flood situation in Punjab after rains, crops and villages affected

Lahore: Heavy rains across the country have caused severe flooding, impacting both urban and rural areas. The districts of Zafarwal, Shakargarh, and Jhelum are among the hardest hit, as overflowing rivers and canals have submerged agricultural land and forced hundreds of families to evacuate.
In Zafarwal, dozens of villages are underwater after a dike at Nallah burst. A collapsed bridge at Hanjali has also cut off transportation. With 22,000 cusecs of water threatening low-lying areas, rice crops are at risk of being completely destroyed.
Meanwhile, in Shakargarh, rising water in the Nallah Bayan has reached the Karil bridge, isolating the Sikmal Kothe area and surrounding settlements. Residents are trapped in their homes, and submerged farmland is causing significant financial losses for farmers.
A flood alert has been issued for Jhelum and its surrounding areas due to the threat of cloudbursts and flash floods. The district administration has urged residents near Nala Banhan and Nala Ghan to evacuate immediately to ensure their safety.
Rescue 1122 and other emergency services are on high alert, but experts warn the situation could worsen over the next 24 to 48 hours. The public is being urged to follow the instructions of the district administration and avoid taking unnecessary risks.
