Decision to increase vehicle tax in Islamabad, cabinet approval

Islamabad: The federal cabinet has approved a major change in the vehicle tax structure in the capital. Under this decision, the West Pakistan Motor Vehicle Act will be amended and the Interior Ministry will be empowered to increase token tax.

According to sources, vehicle taxes and fees are being increased for the first time since 2019. Government officials say that this move will help achieve revenue targets and improve the vehicle registration system. After the new policy, private, commercial and public transport will all have to pay new taxes, while registration and transfer fees are also likely to increase.
