Sugar price reaches Rs 229 per kg in Quetta, says Pakistan Statistical Bureau

Pakistan Statistical Institute has revealed in its latest report that there is a significant difference in sugar prices in different cities of the country, while Quetta recorded the highest increase in prices during the last one week.

According to the report, the price of sugar per kg in Quetta has increased from Rs 210 to Rs 229, after which the citizens of Quetta are forced to buy the most expensive sugar in the country. According to officials, the price has increased by Rs 19 in just one week.

In other cities, the maximum price of sugar in Peshawar was Rs 200 per kg, while in Karachi and Islamabad it was Rs 195 per kg. In Rawalpindi, the price was seen as high as Rs 190 per kg.

The Bureau of Statistics says that although prices have increased in different cities, the average price across the country has come down by Rs 2.1 paisa compared to last week to Rs 185.47 paisa. A year ago, the average price of sugar in the country was Rs 132.24 paisa, compared to which a clear increase is now seen overall.
