The latest weekly report issued by the Bureau of Statistics has indicated a slight easing in the inflation trend in the country. According to the report, the overall inflation rate was recorded to decrease by 0.09 percent during the week, while annual inflation has come down to 2.83 percent.

According to the data, 13 essential items became expensive in the recent week, in which ground chili, chicken and bananas are prominent, while the prices of 11 items decreased. The prices of 27 items remained stable.

The report said that the increase in electricity charges was a cause of concern for consumers, as the price per unit reached Rs 6.10 after the first-quarter rate hike.
