Lahore Sets Safety First as Basant 2026 Gets Green Light Under Tight Regulations

To make the Basant festival safe in Lahore, the district administration has allowed Basant 2026 with extraordinary security measures. Deputy Commissioner Lahore Syed Musa Raza says that Basant is the cultural identity of the city, but the protection of human lives will always be the top priority.

According to the SOPs issued by the administration, all manufacturers and sellers of kites and strings will have to complete their registration through an online portal. Businessmen will be able to start their work within the legal framework from December 30.

The guidelines state that the size of kites will not exceed the prescribed limit, while police and district officers have been instructed to crack down severely on the sale of prohibited strings. Nylon or chemically coated strings will not be acceptable under any circumstances.

Syed Musa Raza has appealed to parents to prevent their children from using dangerous strings and support the administration in upholding the law. He said that law-abiding citizens will be provided complete protection.

According to legal experts and safety analysts, the success of a public festival like Basant depends not only on making laws but also on their strict implementation and public cooperation, which plays a key role in preventing accidents.
