Positive results of reforms in gas sector, supply hours extended

In a briefing given to the National Assembly Standing Committee on Petroleum, positive results of reforms in the gas sector have begun to emerge, where not only UFG losses have significantly reduced but gas supply hours for domestic consumers have also been extended.
Sui Gas officials told the committee that UFG losses in SNGPL have reduced from 9 percent to 5 percent, while these losses in SSGC have reduced from 17 percent to 10 percent. According to officials, this improvement has been possible thanks to modern technology and monitoring system.
The briefing said that the IoT monitoring system is active on the gas network, due to which the companies receive immediate alerts in case of pressure drop and timely action is taken. Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervez Malik said in the meeting that no local gas field is closed and power plants are getting gas in excess of their requirement, which is further improving supply management. According to him, keeping in mind the public convenience, the hours of gas supply have been extended from 5 am to 10 pm.
