331 HIV Cases Reported in Taunsa; Health Committee Demands Answers

A parliamentary committee of health has raised a red flag over the increasing number of HIV patients in Pakistan. On Thursday, the National Assembly Standing Committee on Health met to discuss the growing health crisis.

The committee was told that Taunsa tehsil has become a major concern, with 331 people testing positive for HIV. Chairman Dr. Mahesh Kumar Malani said the situation is very serious and requires immediate action.

Key Demands by the Committee:

  • Funding Check: The committee wants to know where global money for HIV is going and how it is being used.
  • Better Inspections: The Ministry of Health has been told to keep a closer eye on medical practices to stop the spread.
  • Teamwork: The federal government must work closely with provincial departments to make new health rules.

The committee has asked the health ministry to come prepared with a full briefing in the next meeting to explain why cases are rising despite international aid.
