The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has declared that the income tax return filing process will begin from Monday, July 27, 2026. The agency has reminded every taxpayer to ensure proper, complete and timely filing of their tax returns and to help ensure effective tax law compliance.

According to a statement issued by the FBR, while filing returns, income, assets, liabilities and other financial details should be recorded truthfully and accurately. Not only is it a personal obligation to file clear and timely tax returns, but it’s also a key factor in bolstering the national tax system, the agency says.

The authorities have advised taxpayers to file their returns at an early stage instead of waiting for the deadline to avoid possible technical issues or unnecessary delays. The FBR said that by complying on time, transparency and trust in the tax system will be fostered.

Economists have noted that if the tax returns are filed on time, the citizens can avail themselves of the facilities of active taxpayers, and if they are filed with accuracy, it will lead to improvement in the financial discipline of the country.

The FBR has stated that taxpayers should ensure that they verify all the records against which they are putting their financial details from which the financial return is being filed to ensure it gets filed correctly and no problems are faced later.
