Kuwait has formally approved a defence cooperation agreement with Pakistan, marking a significant breakthrough in further expanding military ties between the two countries. The approval order No. 73 of 2026 has been published in the official gazette, Kuwait Today.

According to the official document, this approval is related to the agreement that was signed between Pakistan and Kuwait on June 11, 2023, in Kuwait. The main objective of the agreement is to strengthen defence cooperation between the two countries on an institutional basis and promote ties in areas of common interest.

The agreement sets out a comprehensive framework for cooperation in military training, military education, logistical cooperation, exchange of military personnel, technical and scientific cooperation, military intelligence and other defence sectors. This cooperation will be implemented in accordance with the laws of both countries and international obligations.

According to the document, the two countries will prepare joint executive protocols and practical programmes every year to implement the agreement, while exchanges of high-level government delegations and contacts between defence institutions will also be promoted.

A joint military committee will be established under the agreement to coordinate, monitor and review progress. This committee, nominated by the defence ministers of both countries, will meet at least once a year.

The defence cooperation agreement places special emphasis on the protection of confidential information. According to it, no classified information, document or material will be shared with any third party without the written permission of the other party, while confidentiality obligations will continue even after the conclusion of the agreement.

According to the financial and administrative provisions of the agreement, the host country will bear the expenses of internal travel, accommodation and emergency medical care of delegations on official visits. Furthermore, any dispute regarding the interpretation or implementation of the agreement will be resolved through mutual consultations and will not be submitted to any international or domestic court or third party.
