Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met his Iranian counterpart Eskandar Momeni in Tehran, in which they discussed mutual relations between Pakistan and Iran, security cooperation and the current situation in the region.
Mohsin Naqvi arrived in Tehran on an official visit on Monday, where the Iranian Interior Minister received him at the airport. During the visit, discussions on matters related to cooperation between the two countries were taken forward.
The meeting also reviewed the progress of ongoing cooperation between the two ministries in various fields. The two sides discussed the need to further improve communication on matters of mutual interest.
Iranian Interior Minister Eskandhar Momeni appreciated Pakistan’s efforts for regional peace and stability. He also thanked Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for their efforts. According to Momeni, Pakistan’s role in peace in the region is valuable.
The Iranian Interior Minister also described his recent visit to Pakistan as useful. He said that there is scope for furthering contacts and cooperation between the two countries.
Mohsin Naqvi said that Pakistan-Iran relations will further strengthen in the coming days. He stressed the need to expand cooperation between the two countries.
The visit comes at a time when the political and security situation in the region is constantly changing. High-level contacts are also ongoing between Pakistan and Iran. According to officials, the main focus of the current visit is on advancing bilateral matters and previously agreed cooperation.
Iranian sources have also clarified that Mohsen Naqvi’s visit is mainly related to Pak-Iran relations and mutual cooperation. The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson described the visit as a bilateral framework.
Cooperation between the two countries in border relations, security and other mutual matters is already ongoing. The recent meeting is being seen as a high-level contact in this regard. The two sides expressed their determination to further advance bilateral relations in the coming period.
