Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has made an important clarification regarding the health of Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, saying that he is in perfect health and has recovered from previous injuries.
In an interview with the American broadcaster CBS News, Pezeshkian said that he met with Mojtaba Khamenei twice in person. According to him, one meeting lasted more than seven hours. Pezeshkian, who is a doctor himself, said that no special problems have emerged regarding the Supreme Leader’s health during this time.
The Iranian president said that the wounds on Mojtaba Khamenei’s face and legs have also healed. He made this clarification at a time when questions about the Supreme Leader’s health have been raised due to his limited public presence.
The ongoing tension between Iran and the United States was also an important part of the discussion in the interview.
Pezeshkian mentioned the lack of trust between the two countries and said that the US must accept the Iranian offer in order to resume talks.
The Iranian president also clarified Tehran’s position on the Strait of Hormuz.
According to him, if the US accepts the proposed framework, Iran can fulfill its promises to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and move forward with the negotiation process.
Iran has already conveyed the proposal to reopen the Strait and start negotiations to the US.
Regarding the nuclear program, Pezeshkian once again said that Iran is not trying to make nuclear weapons. He said that according to Iran’s religious stance, making nuclear weapons is prohibited.
He also clarified that Iran is ready to allow UN nuclear inspectors to enter the country.
According to him, specific arrangements can be made during the negotiations on the inspection issue.
