The federal government has announced a reduction in the prices of petroleum products for September 29. According to a notification from the Ministry of Finance, petrol has been reduced by Rs 2.27 and diesel by Rs 3.56 per litre.
After the reduction, petrol will be sold at Rs 389.30 while diesel will be sold at Rs 404.97 per litre. The new rates will be effective for one day only.
The reduction in petrol prices may lead to a slight reduction in the daily travel expenses of people using motorcycles and cars. The reduction in diesel prices is also related to the costs of freight and public transport.
Fuel prices are considered one of the main factors of inflation and business costs in Pakistan. Diesel prices in particular can affect the overall cost of goods reaching the market through transport.
The recent reduction is limited in scope, so the next price decision will also be important for consumers. Petrol and diesel will be available at the new prices as of September 29.
