The Foreign Office spokesperson has made it clear during the weekly media briefing that Pakistan fully stands by Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty and security while adhering to the Mecca Defense Agreement.
According to the spokesperson, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has strongly condemned the Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia, while Pakistan also condemned the attacks on Medina. He said that the sanctity and protection of Harameen Sharifain will be ensured at all costs.
In this context, an important meeting of the Strategic, Political and Defense Committee of the Makkah Defense Pact was held. The meeting was attended by Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Defense Minister Khawaja Asif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, in which it was decided to take practical steps to further strengthen defense cooperation between the two countries.
The spokesperson further said that Pakistan has also recently participated in the Moscow format meeting on the issue of Afghanistan and is continuing its efforts to establish peace and order in the region.
