The Pakistan Stock Exchange is bullish after four consecutive sessions of decline. Buyers in the stock market, which faced selling pressure during the trading week, reactivated, resulting in the benchmark 100 index closing higher.
The KSE 100 index rose 641 points to 165,417 points at the end of trading. Earlier, the index had fallen by a total of about 3,800 points in four consecutive trading sessions. The fresh gains stopped the ongoing negative trend in the market, but it will be important to see whether the buying trend continues in the coming sessions.
The market witnessed significant volatility during the day. The 100 index fluctuated around 1,600 points, indicating that investors were busy buying and selling at various levels. The positive closing at the end of trading provided some support to the market after the recent decline.
Trading activities were also prominent in the stock market. A total of about 585 million shares were traded, worth Rs 20 billion. These figures show that the market witnessed a significant volume of buying and selling, and investors continued to trade in shares of various companies.
On the other hand, the total value of the stock market also recorded an increase. The market capitalisation increased by Rs 65 billion to Rs 18,391 billion. The increase in this scale indicates an improvement in the total market value of shares of listed companies.
The recent rally is certainly encouraging for investors, but a single session’s increase does not confirm a sustainable recovery in the market. Several factors, including economic conditions, interest rate expectations, financial performance of companies and investor confidence, affect share prices.
It will be important to monitor the direction of the index and the continuation of buying in the upcoming trading sessions. If the positive trend continues, it may help the market recover from recent losses, while volatility is likely to continue if re-selling pressure increases.
