The federal government has announced to maintain the price of petrol per litre while increasing the price of high-speed diesel. According to the new prices, diesel has increased by Rs 1.91 to Rs 393.66 per litre.
According to the announcement, the price of petrol will remain at Rs 377.71 per litre. The new prices are said to be effective from October 24 to 26, 2026.
The increase in diesel price may increase the operating costs of freight vehicles, public transport and agricultural machinery. However, the impact of this increase on the prices of common consumers and essential commodities will depend on the cost transfer to transport and other sectors.
With the price of petrol remaining unchanged, motorcycle and private vehicle owners will not face any further increase in the price per litre for the time being.
Crude oil prices in the global market, import costs and other related costs play an important role in determining the prices of petroleum products in Pakistan. After the latest change in prices, consumers will focus on the upcoming government announcement and the situation in the global energy market.
