The Iranian military has warned that in the event of a new military action by the US against Iran, the conflict could spread beyond the current sphere and spread to a wider region.
Iranian military spokesman Brigadier General Mohammad Akraminia said in a statement on the social media platform X that if US President Donald Trump launches another military campaign in the region under pressure and instigation from Israel, the flames of war could engulf a wide geographical area.
He warned that in such a case, the decision to end the war would no longer be in the hands of the US president.
Citing the US’s previous diplomatic behaviour and deviation from promises, the Iranian military spokesman said that Tehran does not trust Washington.
According to him, the Iranian military is continuously improving its war preparations and is keeping a close eye on US military movements in the region.
This statement comes at a time when diplomatic efforts are underway to reduce tensions between the US and Iran. Contacts are being made with Iranian authorities under Qatar’s mediation role, while the possibility of resuming talks between the two countries is also being discussed.
The latest warning from Iranian officials shows that despite diplomatic contacts, military tensions in the region remain high, and there is a strong position between the parties regarding the possible consequences of any new action.
