PM Shehbaz Sharif Vows Swift and Transparent Privatization

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed his strong position on the privatisation of state-owned companies.

Leading a major privatisation conference, the premier underlined how Pakistan’s economic development calls for community participation. “Loss-making institutions will no more drain public resources,” he said.

Emphasising that the government’s job is to develop policies and enable investment, not operate enterprises, he underlined that privatisation is a pillar of the “Uraan Pakistan” project.

PM Shehbaz expressed hope that timely reforms will help the economy to show an upward trend. He told authorities to maintain perfect openness while accelerating the privatisation process.
