ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has revealed that Pakistan successfully downed six enemy aircraft, including Rafales, MiGs, and drones, in response to unprovoked aggression. Speaking at a “Youm-e-Tashakur” event held at the Pakistan Monument in Islamabad, the Prime Minister declared it a moment of national pride and reflection.

The ceremony was attended by military leadership, federal ministers, foreign diplomats, and the families of martyrs. Pakistan Air Force pilots paid tribute through an impressive flypast, and prayers were offered for the martyrs.

During his address, the Prime Minister shared that on the night of May 9–10, following attacks on civilians that included the tragic death of a six-year-old child, the nation’s top military commanders met and decided that the enemy had crossed all red lines.

“At 2:30 AM, the Army Chief informed me that the enemy had launched missiles. I gave full permission for a decisive response,” said Shehbaz Sharif. “Hours later, the Army Chief called again to say the enemy was requesting a ceasefire.”

The Prime Minister said Pakistan delivered a powerful response that would not be forgotten by its adversary. He credited the victory to the prayers of 240 million Pakistanis and the strength of the armed forces.

Looking forward, the Prime Minister emphasized the need to shift focus from military achievements to economic development. “It is now time to fight in the economic field. The real journey for which Pakistan was created must now begin,” he said.

PM Sharif also expressed gratitude to global allies for their support and acknowledged the leadership of U.S. President Donald Trump for playing a key role in de-escalation.

He highlighted Pakistan’s heavy toll in the fight against terrorism, mentioning the loss of 90,000 lives and $150 billion in damages. “The nation salutes the unwavering leadership of General Asim Munir in this critical time,” he added.

The Prime Minister concluded with a call for national unity, urging citizens to build the Pakistan envisioned by Quaid-e-Azam. “If we turn our unity into strength, nothing can stop Pakistan from rising to its true potential,” he said.
