Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced that the farmers of the province will be given a subsidy of billions of rupees for the new crop. So that agricultural production can be increased and financial difficulties of farmers can be reduced.
She said this while chairing a high-level meeting on agricultural issues in Lahore, in which the solarization scheme of agricultural tubewells, the wet support program, and the scope of the Kisan Card were reviewed in detail.
It was decided in the meeting that 6 lakh farmers will be given VAT support of Rs 5,000 per acre through Kisan Card, while the same subsidy will be provided to those farmers who do not have Kisan Card. So that everyone can get equal relief.
During the meeting, officials told the briefing that 60 percent of the loans issued for agricultural interventions from the Kisan Card have been returned, while an amount of 22 billion rupees has been returned to the farmers so far. It was further informed that the second installment for the new crop has also been released through Kisan Card, and verification of 50 percent of the applications received under the wet support program has been completed.
The chief minister said that the Punjab government is standing with the farmers and will continue to provide all possible help in the future. She said that empowerment of farmers is essential for agricultural development and economic stability.
