Ali Reza Arafi is appointed a member of the Interim Leadership Council, who will temporarily perform the duties of Supreme Leader in Iran.

An important development has come to light in Iran, where Ali Reza Arafi has been appointed a member of the Interim Council that will perform the duties of the Iranian Supreme Leader. According to Iranian media, he has been nominated as a jurist of the Leadership Council, who will temporarily assume the duties of the supreme leader.

According to reports, this three-member council will perform its duties until the Assembly of Experts elects a new Supreme Leader. The council also includes Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and the Iranian Chief Justice, which shows that the country’s top leadership is part of this interim system.

It should be noted that Ali Reza Arafi is also the deputy chairman of the Assembly of Experts and has been a member of the Guardian Council in the past. The Guardian Council oversees the vetting of election candidates in Iran and the laws approved by parliament. In addition, he is also the head of Iran’s religious schools and is known for his administrative skills.

According to political observers, Arafi is considered one of the confidants of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, but his influence in the security establishment is considered limited. Experts say that the establishment of the interim council is part of Iran’s constitutional procedure, and its purpose is to maintain the continuity of leadership.
