LPG prices have been increased once again across the country. According to LPG Association Chairman Irfan Khokhar, the official price has increased by Rs 7 per kg, after which the new price has been fixed at Rs 209 per kg. This increase has also proved to be expensive for domestic consumers, as the domestic cylinder has become expensive by Rs 87 to Rs 2,466.
According to the chairman, LPG is now being sold in the market at Rs 209 per kg instead of Rs 202, while the market price of a domestic cylinder has increased from Rs 2,379 to Rs 2,466. Similarly, the price of a commercial cylinder has also increased from Rs 9,153 to Rs 9,488.
Taking a strong stand, Irfan Khokhar said that black marketing of LPG continued across the country last month, due to which billions of rupees were looted and consumers were not able to get gas at the official price.
He stressed that if the government really wants to supply at the official price, then supply from LPG terminals to plants at the official rates will have to be ensured.
Commenting on the situation, an energy analyst said that the recent increase in prices is not only a burden on consumers but is also adding to the already existing uncertainty in the market. According to him, the real problem is the monitoring of the supply chain, which needs to be improved.
