World Bank’s $47.9 million grant, new opportunities for quality education in Punjab

Lahore: The World Bank has approved a $47.9 million grant to improve the education sector in Punjab. This grant has been provided under the Global Partnership for Education Funds, which aims to increase student engagement at the pre-primary and primary levels and ensure quality education.

According to the announcement, the project will improve learning outcomes at the primary level as well as bring school dropouts back into the educational process.  The fund will also be used to modernize teacher training and enable educational institutions to respond effectively to climate change and emergencies.

The World Bank’s country director says that this initiative is a major step towards achieving equal access to quality education in Punjab. According to him, this project will not only improve the quality of education but also play an important role in the long-term economic development of the province.
