New Fuel Prices in Pakistan

As announced by the government, the price of high-speed diesel has seen a noticeable cut, while petrol prices remain unchanged. This small but significant change offers a moment of respite for a nation grappling with persistent inflation.

Sultan, a rickshaw driver in Lahore, felt the impact immediately. “Every rupee counts,” he said, wiping sweat from his brow. “With the diesel price coming down, even by a little, it means I can take home a few extra rupees at the end of the day. It helps with the cost of food for my children.” His sentiment was echoed by transporters and farmers, for whom diesel is a lifeline for their daily operations. While the stability in petrol prices offers no immediate relief for car and motorcycle owners, the reduction in diesel is a welcome step that can ripple through the economy, potentially stabilizing transport and food costs in the coming weeks.
