The federal government has increased the rate of profit on investment in national savings schemes. After the new notification issued by the Ministry of Finance, there has been a change in the income earned from various certificates and accounts.
According to the new rate, the profit on the Defence Savings Certificate has been fixed at 11.80 percent. Its rate has been increased by 19 basis points. Investors in the Welfare Savings Certificate and Pensioners Benefit Account will now get 12.72 percent profit. The rate of both the schemes has been increased by 12 basis points.
A regular income certificate is also included in the revised list. The rate of return on this has increased by 60 basis points to 11.76 percent. The rate of Special Savings Certificate has been increased by 74 basis points, after which it has been fixed at 11.82 percent.
The rates of the Sarva Islamic Term Account for Islamic investment have also been changed. The return on the three-year plan will now be 11.57 percent. The new rate for the five-year plan has been fixed at 11.70 percent. The rates for these two tenors have increased by 41 and 54 basis points, respectively.
National savings schemes are considered important, especially for those who want to earn relatively regular income from their savings. Pensioners and investors seeking a steady cash income are also interested in these products.
The increase in the rate of return creates an opportunity for additional income for investors, but the ultimate return will depend on the amount invested and the tenure of the relevant scheme. Along with this, it is also necessary to take into account inflation and other financial requirements.
The new rates have been implemented under the notification of the Ministry of Finance. Investors should confirm the updated terms, tenure and profit payment method with the respective National Savings Center before depositing money.
