The Pakistan Stock Exchange continued to face bearish pressure during the trading week and the KSE-100 index closed at 167441 points with a decline of 1138 points.
The market was faced with uncertainties at both the global and local levels in the trading session. Reports of a possible new US military action against Iran created a cautious attitude in Asian financial markets, the effects of which were also felt on the Pakistani stock market.
The local political situation also affected investor confidence. Due to growing concerns about political developments in Islamabad, cautious trading was preferred over buying in the market.
The KSE-100 index showed significant volatility during the day and traded in a band of 2036 points overall. This situation shows that investors are keeping a close eye on global geopolitical risks as well as domestic conditions.
A total of 360 million shares were traded in the market, worth about Rs 17 billion. Despite the trading activity, selling pressure kept the index in the negative zone.
The downturn also resulted in a decline in the overall market capitalization of the Pakistan Stock Exchange. The total market value fell by Rs 149 billion to Rs 18,597 billion.
