Crude oil prices have risen once again in the global market. Brent crude oil prices have crossed the $103 per barrel level, while US WTI is also trading with an increase.
According to the market, the Brent price increased by $1.14 to $103.73 per barrel. This is an increase of 1.11 percent compared to the previous level. On the other hand, the WTI price increased by 34 cents to $89.72 per barrel.
The recent movement in crude oil prices has once again drawn the attention of the global energy market to supply concerns. US policy on Iran also remains an important factor for investors. New speculations emerged in the market after US President Donald Trump denied his willingness to ease sanctions on Iran.
Changes in oil prices are not limited to the energy sector. Rising crude oil prices can increase the energy bill for importing countries. This can also affect the costs of transport, industry and other sectors.
Global oil prices are of particular importance for Pakistan because the country meets a large part of its energy needs through imports. In the event of continued inflation in the global market, the pressure on the import bill may increase. However, the prices of local petroleum products are also affected by other factors along with global crude oil.
A significant increase is also being seen in the monthly performance of Brent. At the current pace, its price is on track to increase by about 14% this month. If this happens, it will be the biggest monthly increase for Brent since July.
WTI prices are expected to increase by about 4% on a monthly basis. The movement in both benchmarks highlights the impact of global demand, supply prospects and geopolitical conditions.
Market participants are now keeping an eye on the upcoming developments regarding Iran and US policy signals. Any significant changes in sanctions, supply and regional situation could lead to further volatility in global crude oil prices.
In the current situation, the direction of the global oil market is important for Pakistani consumers. However, it would not be correct to consider daily changes in global rates as a direct measure of local petrol prices, as many other factors also affect pricing in Pakistan.
