State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) Governor Jameel Ahmad has said inflation in Pakistan has remained under control despite a significant increase in global oil prices. He added that the country’s foreign exchange reserves have reached $21.5 billion, while economic reforms will continue to support stability.
Ahmad briefed international investors on Pakistan’s economic conditions and measures to strengthen stability during the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank.
According to the SBP governor, Pakistan has made progress in stabilising its economy through prudent policies and structural reforms. He stressed that continued reforms would be necessary to preserve these gains and support sustainable economic growth.
Ahmad said economic stability had improved Pakistan’s ability to withstand both domestic and external shocks. He also highlighted the staff-level agreement reached with the IMF and improvements in the country’s credit ratings as signs of economic progress.
Despite these developments, Pakistan continues to face challenges related to global energy prices, external financing requirements and sustainable growth. Maintaining adequate foreign exchange reserves, controlling inflation and implementing reforms will remain key priorities for economic policymaker
