Pakistan’s Planning Ministry has released PSDP expenditure data for the first 10 months of FY 2025-26, showing Rs 469.84 billion spent on development projects. Major spending includes highways, water resources, education, and power sector initiatives across federal ministries and corporations.
The Ministry of Planning has released a detailed report on development expenditure for the first 10 months (July to April) of the current fiscal year 2025-26 under the Public Sector Development Program (PSDP), which states that a total of Rs 469.84 billion has been spent on various federal development projects.
According to an official statement, the government released large amounts of funds to federal ministries and corporations during the current fiscal year to accelerate development projects aimed at improving infrastructure, energy, education and water sectors.
The report states that Rs 332.67 billion was spent on development projects of federal ministries, while Rs 137.17 billion was allocated and spent for projects run under government corporations.
According to the details, the development projects of the National Highway Authority (NHA) remained among the sectors that received the most funds during this period, on which Rs 84.41 billion was spent. These projects include the construction and expansion of roads, motorways and link roads.
Significant expenditure was also seen in the energy sector, where Rs52.76 billion was spent on power sector projects of government corporations. According to officials, this investment was made to improve the power generation and transmission system in the country.
Rs 44 billion was spent on various development projects of the Cabinet Division, while Rs 19.17 billion was released for projects under the Ministry of Education. Rs 24.15 billion was spent on projects related to higher education, which is expected to improve infrastructure and facilities in higher educational institutions.
Similarly, Rs 66.90 billion was spent on development projects of the Ministry of Water Resources, which include water reservoirs, dams and water supply projects.
According to the Ministry of Planning, the total revised volume of the PSDP for the current fiscal year is Rs 837.16 billion. Economic analysts say that if the use of development funds continues at the same pace, the country’s infrastructure and economic activities will improve further.
