ISLAMABAD: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has completed its intra-party elections, as a result of which Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has once again been elected as the party chairman. The election, held at the party’s central office in Islamabad on April 12, elected the office-bearers for four years as per the party constitution. According to the election results, Humayun Khan was appointed as the secretary general, Nadeem Afzal Gondal (Chan) as the information secretary and Amna Paracha as the finance secretary. According to the party statement, the purpose of these elections was to promote the democratic tradition in the party and further strengthen the organizational structure. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s re-election has given the impression that the PPP wants to maintain political continuity while expressing confidence in the current leadership. According to observers, this decision is an important step to field the party in the upcoming elections in a strong and united manner.
