Iran Says Trust Essential for Progress in Talks, Key Issues Discussed

A Foreign Ministry spokesman has said that detailed talks were held between Iran and the US on important issues during the past 24 hours, but establishing mutual trust is essential for final progress.


According to the statement, important issues such as the situation in the Strait of Hormuz, the nuclear program, war damages and the lifting of sanctions on Iran were discussed in the talks.


Iranian officials stressed that ending tensions and serious resolution of conflicts are essential for lasting peace in the region.


They made it clear that unnecessary demands and unilateral conditions will not be acceptable, while Iran has always been a supporter of resolving problems through negotiations.
