Authorities on Sunday placed Islamabad under strict security measures, sealing the Red Zone to all traffic as the capital prepares for the expected arrival of delegations from the United States and Iran.
In a statement posted on X, Islamabad Police said that both the Red Zone and Extended Red Zone would remain completely closed for all types of traffic due to the ongoing arrangements.
Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon also announced the suspension of public and heavy transport across the city until further notice.
Sources familiar with the development said advance teams have already begun arriving in Islamabad. The teams reportedly landed at Nur Khan Airbase, where multiple US cargo planes were received.
The personnel were subsequently transported under strict security to designated high-security locations within the capital as preparations continue for possible diplomatic engagements.
Officials said the security measures, including traffic restrictions and transport suspension, are aimed at ensuring safety and maintaining order during the high-level visits.
