NEPRA Announces Electricity Price Cut for July Bills, Relief for K-Electric and National Consumers

ISLAMABAD: In a significant development for power consumers across the country, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has issued a notification announcing a reduction in electricity tariffs under the monthly fuel cost adjustment mechanism.

According to NEPRA, residents of Karachi, who are served by K-Electric, will receive a notable relief of Rs. 4.03 per unit in their electricity bills for July 2025. For consumers in the rest of Pakistan, the approved reduction is Rs. 0.50 per unit.

The statement further clarified that this reduction for K-Electric is based on fuel cost adjustments for the year 2025, while the decrease for other regions is linked to the fuel adjustment of May 2025.

K-Electric had earlier submitted a request seeking a reduction of Rs. 4.69 per unit under the April adjustment. Following NEPRA’s review, a revised relief of Rs. 4.03 per unit has now been approved.

This price cut comes amid inflationary pressures and a rising cost of living in Pakistan, offering some relief to consumers struggling with high utility bills.

The changes will be reflected in electricity bills issued in July 2025.
