State Bank of Pakistan Governor Jamil Ahmed has confirmed that the designs of the new currency notes have been completed and have been sent to the federal cabinet for approval.
During a meeting of the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), he said that modern security features are being added to the new notes to control the problem of counterfeit currency.
He said that traditionally, currency notes are updated every 15 to 20 years to keep the financial system safe and modern.
According to the governor, suggestions for new designs were also sought from the public in 2024 to ensure transparency and modernity.
According to experts, the arrival of new notes will not only improve the security of the currency but will also strengthen confidence in the banking system.
