‘No Intent to Attack’: Iran’s President Affirms Commitment to Regional Peace

President Masoud Pezeshkian has reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to regional stability, stating that Tehran is pursuing an end to current tensions based on “dignity and honour”.

In a statement reported by state media, the President hit out at the U.S. administration, specifically targeting President Donald Trump’s efforts to curb Iran’s nuclear program. “Trump has no right to prevent the people of Iran from exercising their fundamental rights,” Pezeshkian said, adding that the U.S. lacks any legal basis for its restrictive demands.

“Our position is rooted in the preservation of security and peace. The enemy has failed to achieve its objectives through pressure, and we remain firm in our stance.” — President Masoud Pezeshkian

Key Highlights of the Statement:

  • Self-Defense: Iran views its current actions as a legitimate response to external threats under international law.
  • Peace Initiative: Tehran is not seeking to expand the circle of war and has historically avoided starting conflicts.
  • Nuclear Rights: The Iranian leadership remains unified in its pursuit of peaceful nuclear technology despite Western sanctions.

Experts suggest that Pezeshkian’s comments come at a critical time as diplomatic efforts to secure a permanent ceasefire continue in the region.
